about

This is my second album. Its a collection of my best ambient and classical work from the last couple of years - a welsh language-titled series of meditations on the ancient world of Britain prior to the Romans, before the saxons arrived. The language of Britain would have been ancient welsh. Our faith was polytheistic and involved worship of female deities in the form of the three faced goddess, as well as a plethora of other gods governing fertility, the land and the welsh afterlife / otherword, Annwd. At this time, celts were regarded as the greeks of Northern Europe. Experts in technology of the time, including exquisitely crafted weapons and culture and art. Languages associated with the celts have largely disappeared in mainland europe but they still survive and are spoken in Britain and Ireland today, in the form of Gaelic and Welsh.

Some of my work is inspired by the Mabinogion, the oldest British literature on record, translated from middle welsh during medieval times, and a mere fragment of what was destroyed by successive invaders who brought christianity with them, and literally built their churches over our sacred groves. If you encounter a church in Britain that has a yew tree, that's a sign it was once a holy pagan site. The Mabinogion represents pre christian welsh mythology and it also discusses King Arthur and Merlin (Brenin Arthur and Myrddin in Welsh)

It was important to me as a welsh man to present these songs in a welsh context. Our contribution to the history of this country and Europe in general is mostly overlooked. I want to honour and recognise that culture with my art, and I hope you enjoy it too.
